Genelia: I see myself fit into spunky roles

Bollywood actor Genelia D'Souza feels that she tunes well with 'teen-aged spunky characters' and does not want to portray herself in 'hot' image at present.

"There are enough of girls doing hot scenes, I see myself fit into teenaged spunky characters," Genelia said when she visited Kolkata to unveil a new lounge- 'Nocturne'.

The actor said she is eager to work in Bengali movies if she gets the opportunity in future.

"I am hundred percent eager to work in Kolkata. I would love to do Bengali as well." she said.

The Southern beauty also expressed her desire to work with filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh in her coming years.

Speaking on the occasion, Genelia said that to her, partying at a lounge is all about relaxation.

"For me partying at the lounge is all about relaxation. We are in a competitive world, it is truly better to have places like Nocturne that provide the opportunity to entertain as well as relax," she said.

Farah and Shirish draw lines

For Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, it was taking an altogether different exchange of vows that they shared years after already been married. Before kick starting work on their first ever production together, TEES MAAR KHAN, Farah and Shirish promised each other that they would respect each other's boundaries and wouldn't cross paths unless asked for.

Laughs Farah, "It was very much required otherwise I am sure TEES MAAR KHAN would have never seen the light of the day. Shirish had written the film's screenplay and was also the producer. Naturally he was attached to it but when I stepped in as a director, my first question to him was whether he was willing to let go off the script and allow me to interpret it my way."

What followed next was a list of Do's and don'ts being listed where a code of conduct was drafted.

"I am serious when I say that but it was a clear mandate between us around how we would work on the film together so that there were no problems in the future," adds Shirish, "We made a list of all such things where we may have ended up crossing each other's paths. As a producer, I was flexible enough to give her all that she wanted to make our film look good. She wanted an entire train and an aeroplane for a few days of shoot; I gave her an entire working model to play around with. Of course she was happy and didn't have any reasons to complain."

Wish all couples were as dariya-dil!

Filmed in front of a live studio audience at BBC Television Centre, the event will offer unique opportunities for BBC Asian Network listeners to get closer to their Bollywood icons in person.

Surrender yourself as his foolproof plan, bewitching charm and caustic wit steal you away this festive season. The smooth operator's on-screen partner in crime is none other than foxy sidekick, Katrina Kaif playing 'Anya', who sizzles on screen and enraptures cinemagoers with a taste of Sheila Ki Jawaani - already the Bollywood anthem of 2010. TMK is aided by an unwitting accomplice - award-hungry actor 'Atish Kapoor' (Akshaye Khanna) - and joined by fellow Bollywood showmen, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor, in very special cameos. Adding to the visual spectacle is a jewel of a soundtrack that has been flawlessly masterminded by musical duo, Vishal-Shekhar.

Rajkumar Gupta's soon to be released NO ONE KILLED JESSICA shows media as righteous and powerful machinery. Sometimes media gets brickbats and misleading portrayal in movies that tarnish its image in the minds of the people BUT NO ONE KILLED JESSICA portrays otherwise.
CHECK OUT: Rani cuts off all ties

The soon to be released movie NOKJ is inspired from model Jessica Lall's murder case. The movie shows that if media uses its power correctly it can make a huge difference. The film does not mock the judiciary system. It simply portrays the real life factual event. Rani is playing the character of Meera, represents media as a whole. Her character not being inspired by anyone in particular, she has all attributes of media holistically.

With her film TEES MAR KHAN making the right noise; it's time for great expectations all over again from Farah Khan. Her blue-eyed boy is not any Khan this time. It's Akshay who is basking in the attention of this lady these days.

Her praise and high regard for Akshay Kumar seems to have completely left her spellbound. These days whenever Farah opens her mouth, the first thing you will notice is the profuse praise that she showers on her TEES MAAR KHAN.

And why not, it's learnt that Akshay never for a moment complained of anything while shooting for the film. At times he would even go out of his way and accommodate his schedule as per the availability of other actors.

For all these reasons, Farah has given Akshay Kumar a new title. She calls him a mazdoor since Akshay Kumar is only concerned with his work and nothing. No back biting, no playing politics, a complete Mr Clean.

Talking about working with Akshay Kumar, Farah Khan says, "He is a positive energy to have around. He has absolutely no ego. He is just a mazdoor (labourer) who does gadha mazdoori (works like an ass). That's also what has brought him so far. I have never heard him say bad things about anyone. And if he couldn't say something good, he kept quiet. He doesn't waste his time backbiting."

Well, some genuine praise coming for Akki this time.

HOSTEL reveals hard-hitting truths about ragging

view HOSTEL videos

Vatsal Seth, Tulip Joshi and Mukesh Tewari starrer HOSTEL is all set to divulge audiences with some realistic, dark secrets about ragging this New Year Eve on 31st December 2010.

India is badly affected by ragging, a form of abuse on newcomers to educational institutions and has reportedly caused at least 30 deaths in the last 7 years. This year alone 10 students have lost their lives due to the brutal practice of Ragging. HOSTEL is the only movie that addresses the issue of ragging.

HOSTEL is written & directed by Manish Gupta (writer of SARKAR) and is a story inspired by true life events of various boys' hostels. HOSTEL is a film about a student played by Vatsal Seth who enters a notorious hostel and is ragged by his seniors. It's not just about one incident but a string of incidents and is a hard-hitting reality-action film. It shows how students are tortured and harassed in the name of ragging.

"There are many suicides that occur in Indian hostels due to ragging wherein students are beaten up, stripped, paraded naked, starved, tortured, molested and even raped by their seniors. Since victims of ragging find it humiliating to report sexual abuse to their parents or others, most ragging-related crimes go unreported. HOSTEL deals with the serious issue of ragging and through this film I want to show the world what actually a victim of ragging goes through," says writer & director Manish Gupta.

CHECK OUT: Movie Preview - Hostel

HOSTEL also embarks Tulip Joshi in a fresh and innovative avatar & role, playing the lead in the movie along with Vatsal Seth. Mukesh Tiwari plays the antagonist in the movie.

'Ragging' is a sadistic practice that has become a ritual in most of the Indian hostels. Sadly, the students who are a victim of ragging - in turn vent their frustrations by ragging their juniors in the following years. Thus, this cruel practice continues year after year and has claimed (and is still claiming) the lives and careers of innumerable students. The film HOSTEL is a shocking eye-opener about this evil practice and is a wake-up call for all of us.

HOSTEL is produced by Vicky Tejwani & Gurpal Sachar of Matrix Medias, Edited by Sanjib Datta, Director of Photography - Srikanth Naroj and Music & Lyrics by Virag Mishra.
